Y School Enrolment Process
How to apply to Y School
At Y Community School, we provide an inclusive and flexible learning environment where young people aged 15 years and above can re-engage in their education and rediscover a love for learning. Our tailored programs focus on building practical life skills, personal growth, and confidence — empowering each student to learn at their own pace and develop a sense of purpose and belonging.
As an inclusive secondary alternative school, we welcome all students regardless of background, ability, gender, ethnicity, or socio-economic status. Students join us through referrals from schools, community organisations, psychologists, youth workers, and support services. Together, we create a nurturing space where every young person feels seen, supported, and capable of achieving their goals.
Step 1: Intake forms
Work together with your support services to decide if alternative schooling is the right fit for you. To assess eligibility for Y Community School, intake forms must be completed by the student, their family, and current school before a tour can be arranged. Please download the forms below and return them to Y Community School once completed. The collection, use and disclosure of information about a student or prospective student is protected by the provisions of Y Whittlesea’s Privacy Policy.

If you meet our eligibility criteria, our team will contact you to arrange a suitable time for a school tour. During your visit, you’ll have the opportunity to explore our learning spaces, meet our educators, and learn more about how our programs can support your goals. It’s also a great time for you and your family to ask questions and experience the welcoming environment that makes Y Community School unique.
Step 3: Tour and enrolment forms
After completing your tour, if you decide that Y Community School is the right fit for you, we’ll provide you with the necessary application forms to complete. If a place is available, we’ll arrange a suitable start date together. If the school is currently at capacity, your name will be added to our waitlist, and we’ll contact you as soon as a place becomes available.
